Find out this fascinating half-day adventure to explore the incredible archaeological site of Herculaneum, one of the most significant remnants of the ancient Roman world. In 79 A.D.
Herculaneum, along with Pompeii, was tragically buried by a catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. However, unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum was engulfed by a massive surge of mud and lava, preserving the site in a way that offers a more vivid snapshot of Roman life.
The unique nature of Herculaneum’s burial means that the site is in remarkably better condition than Pompeii, with wooden structures, furniture, and even food remnants preserved. Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel or meeting point around 08:00 am, followed by a comfortable transfer to the Herculaneum archaeological site. Once there, you’ll be greeted by a knowledgeable local guide who will lead you on a two-our walking tour through the ancient streets, villas, and public spaces of Herculaneum. After the tour, you’ll have time to reflect on the incredible history you’ve just uncovered before departing for Sorrento, where you'll arrive by about 01:00 pm.
Please note that on the first Sunday of every month, admission tickets are free and prices are reduced. - The visit to the archaeological site will be maximum of 30 pax per guide. - Transportation may be in coaches holding more passengers, up to 40/50 passengers. - Due to uneven surface, this tour is not suitable for people with mobility problems. - Duration and itinerary may vary, due to local traffic conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
